Wichita police say man whose body found near river identified
The Wichita Police Department has determined the identity of a 59-year-old white man found Sunday morning near the Arkansas River.
The man’s body was found around 7:30 a.m. Sunday next to a tree in the 400 block of West Stackman Drive by a pedestrian.
Sgt. Nikki Woodrow, of the Wichita Police Department, said police would notify the man’s next of kin before releasing the name.
Woodrow said the Police Department was waiting for the coroner’s office to determine the cause of death.
On Sunday, Sgt. Joe Kennedy said foul play didn’t appear to be involved in the incident.
