Construction worker electrocuted in Andover, Kan.

A construction worker was killed Friday afternoon in Andover when a boom lift truck he was moving came into contact with an overhead power line, according to a news release from the Andover Police Department.

The man, who has been identified as 38-year-old Darrell Harden of Kansas City, Mo., was a brick mason working for a Kansas City construction company.

Harden was at a construction site at 1606 N. Andover Road around 1:45 p.m. Friday when he was electrocuted. That’s just south of Andover Middle School.

When police, fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, they found him unconscious, near the truck, with power lines on the ground nearby.

He was taken to Andover’s Kansas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

OSHA is investigating the incident.
