Open house Saturday at Smoky Hill Air National Guard Range
The Smoky Hill Air National Guard, 184th Intelligence Wing, is hosting an open house Saturday, Aug. 6, at its range near Salina.
Gates will open at 8 a.m. with aerial displays beginning at 10 a.m. Aircraft include the KC-135 Stratotanker, A-10 Thunderbolt, F-16 fighter jet, B-1 bomber, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter and B-52 bomber. Static displays will include a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, HMMWV, a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle and other equipment.
Aircraft is provided by the Kansas Army National Guard, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available for purchase, but visitors are also welcome to bring coolers. No alcohol is permitted. Lawn chairs are encouraged. No pets are allowed.
The air base is at 8429 W. Farrelly Road near Salina. The east Falun Road gate of the base is 9 1/2 miles west of 135 on Falun Road – or take Highway 140 west out of Salina; turn left onto South Link Road, head south then left on Farrelly Road, and head east to the Smoky Hill main gate.
