Woman hospitalized with smoke inhalation after house fire
A woman sustained serious smoke inhalation injuries after her house in the 2400 block of North Hood caught fire Thursday afternoon.
Wichita Fire Battalion Chief Joe Bickel said crews responded to the fire call shortly before 4 p.m.
When they arrived, the woman was out of the home, Bickel said.
The rear of the two-story structure was fully involved in flames, and firefighters set out to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was put out without incident, and the woman was taken to a local hospital.
Fire investigators have not determined a cause for the fire, nor a damage estimate.
“Damages are extensive to the house,” Bickel said.
The woman is expected to recover from her injuries.
