Free class offered for prospective foster parents
A 10-week course in foster parenting will be offered free of charge this summer, thanks to Saint Francis Community Services.
The state of Kansas requires that all potential foster parents take the 10-week course, Trauma Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence-Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting, or TIPPS-MAPP. Saint Francis Community Services announced in a recent news release that it will offer the class in two different sessions: one beginning July 26 and another beginning Aug. 13.
The course covers resources for foster parents, as well as information about the needs of foster children. Classes will be one day a week for 10 weeks, at 4155 E. Harry. For more information about registering for the class, or becoming a foster parent, visit www.fostercare-ks.org or call 866-999-1599.
