Register events for Neighborhood Night Out in Wichita
The city of Wichita is encouraging neighborhoods to register their events for Neighborhood Night Out, which will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9.
The annual event – formerly known as National Night Out and Celebrate Safe Communities – is intended to promote safety and combat crime by encouraging neighbors to meet each other at parties, picnics, cookouts and other social gatherings during one designated evening.
Community members who want to register an event should go to www.wichita.gov, hover over the “Government” tab and then click on “Police” in the drop-down menu that appears. Then select “Neighborhood Night Out Registration Form” from the drop-down menu under the “Forms” tab.
The city will waive park fees for those who want to hold their event in a neighborhood park and will provide barricades – while supplies last – at no charge to groups that want to block off part of the street to host an event.
To reserve a park or request barricades, call 316-350-3400.
