United Way of the Plains is coordinating cleanup volunteers and materials donations at its local volunteer center following Thursday night’s tornado in Eureka.

Volunteers who want to help clean up debris from the tornado should go to the volunteer center in Eureka Junior and High School, 815 N. Jefferson, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteers should dress to work in close-toed shoes and gloves. They can bring tools for cleanup work, according to a United Way news release Friday.

United Way of the Plains might extend the volunteer center’s hours into next week as needed, said Delane Butler, the organization’s vice president of marketing.

Anyone interested in donating materials should call United Way’s “virtual warehouse” by dialing 211. Callers will be asked for their name, contact information and the items they would like to donate, and then United Way will contact emergency personnel to accept the donated items according to their needs.
