Police: No foul play suspected in south Wichita death

A death initially being investigated as a possible homicide now appears to be the result of a drug overdose or a medical condition, Wichita police said Tuesday.

Someone called 911 shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Monday and requested that police check on the welfare of a man in a house in the 2100 block of South Laura, Police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow said.

When officers arrived, they found a 58-year-old man inside who had died. He did not live at the house, Woodrow said.

Based on interviews with the two people who lived at the house, investigators have ruled out foul play, she said. They are awaiting autopsy results to confirm how he died.
