Police: Part of man’s ear cut off during fight

A man was hospitalized early Thursday morning after part of his right ear was cut off during a fight with three men early Thursday morning, police said.

The 24-year-old man was visiting a 22-year-old woman in the 1600 block of South Mosley at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday when she let three men into the house, Lt. James Espinoza said. They attacked the visitor.

“One suspect grabbed a kitchen knife and cut the top of his ear off,” Espinoza said.

A police document said he was also stabbed in the right hand. The three pulled the 24-year-old outside and the assault continued, Espinoza said. They stole his cellphone, shirt and shoes.

He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, where he is in stable condition, Espinoza said.

No arrests have been made. The victim “did not give a very good statement,” Espinoza said.

Police have the names of those involved and are looking for them, he said.
