Fire destroys barn near Derby
Fire destroyed a barn near Derby Thursday morning, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 9:22 a.m. in the 8600 block of South Hillside, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. That’s about a mile west of Derby.
Flames spread quickly in the 40-by-100-foot barn and firefighters adopted a defensive posture to keep the fire from spreading to nearby structures. Crews were still on the scene two hours after the fire was reported.
No injuries have been reported, the dispatcher said, and there is no indication of farm animals being injured.
