Several power outages in the Wichita area have affected hundreds of customers, according to Westar’s website.

One of the largest outages was in downtown Wichita, where more than 500 customers were affected around 7 p.m., according to Westar.

In west Wichita, near Pawnee Prairie Park, more than 200 customers were without power.

The cause of the outage was an equipment failure, according to Yvonne Etzel, a representative for Westar.

Traffic lights were out on Douglas and the lights were off at bars in Old Town. Some residents in Old Town lofts with electronic access were not able to enter their buildings.

The equipment was replaced and power restored around 7:50 p.m.
