Suspects taken in for questioning in west Wichita shooting
Police are questioning two possible suspects after a shooting Wednesday morning in west Wichita.
The shooting was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. in the 400 block of North Clayton, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. That’s near Second and Meridian.
Officers found a 21-year-old man inside the house on North Clayton. He had been shot once in the upper body, Wichita police Capt. Dan East said.
He was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis and admitted for treatment, East said.
As of 7 p.m. Wednesday, police officers had taken a man and a woman in for questioning and were in the interview process, said police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow.
The suspects were described as a white man in his 30s who is 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds and a 23-year-old woman who is 5-foot-5. He wore red and black shorts and has tattoos all over his body; she wore a green jacket and green stretch pants.
Officers have talked to residents of the neighborhood, East said.
