Flood warning issued for south-central Kansas, including Sedgwick County
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for all of Sedgwick County, east-central Reno County and north-central Sumner County until 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The warning came at 8:20 p.m. after thunderstorms producing heavy rains rolled through the area.
Some areas in the warning had already received an inch of rain with the storms, and an additional 1/2 to 1 inch was expected. In addition, rains from this past weekend have saturated many areas.
Places of most concern included Interstate 135 between Mile Markers 0 and 22, and I-35 between Mile Markers 15 and 48, the warning said.
Highways, underpasses and rural roads along streams and low-lying areas are most subject to flooding.
