Foundation offers matching $50,000 grant to Kansas Food Bank
A longtime donor to Wichita charities has offered a $50,000 matching gift to help feed the hungry, the Kansas Food Bank announced this week.
The Dwane L. and Velma Lunt Wallace Foundation has offered the gift, food bank officials said in a statement.
From now until the end of May, gifts offered by others to the food bank will double in value until the bank reaches a combined total of $100,000, the food bank said.
Money donated will go to helping the hungry obtain healthy and nutritious food this spring, food bank officials said.
The food bank buys food at reduced rates and feeds thousands of Kansans every year, providing meals to food pantries and schools with a backpack food program.
To donate online and have your gift matched, go here; contact the Kansas Food Bank-Cargill Cares Complex, 1919 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67211; or call 316-265-3663.
