Intrust Bank Arena putting on adult dodgeball tourney
Grownups can play an old school-yard favorite at a new event being put on by Intrust Bank Arena this summer – and they can raise money for charity doing it.
DodgeBrawl, a one-day adult dodgeball tournament, is scheduled for July 16 on the floor of the arena. Teams will battle in a double-elimination-style tournament, and each winning team’s charity of choice will get a financial donation.
The event is a product of the arena’s management company, SMG out of Philadelphia. SMG has put on the tournaments at several of its properties, including one that’s been running for four years in Tulsa.
“They max out their teams and get a really good crowd who comes in and watches and hangs out for the day and cheers the teams on,” said Christine Pileckas, Intrust Bank Arena’s director of sales and marketing.
Players must be 18 or over, and they can sign up between now and July 1. Registration is $35 a person, and the tournament can accommodate 64 teams of six to 10 players. Spectators on the day of the tournament will get in free, and on-site parking also will be free.
Teams also will win prizes for having the best costume or best team name, and the event also will have a beer garden.
