Halstead couple to receive national writing award
A Halstead couple have been named to receive one of the most prestigious history awards next month.
Gary and Margaret Kraisinger’s book “The Western Cattle Trail 1874-1897” has been chosen by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City for the 2016 Western Heritage Wrangler Award in nonfiction literature.
The Kraisingers will receive the award April 15-16 during the museum’s 55th annual award ceremony recognizing works in literature, music, film and television reflecting significant stories of the American West.
The Wrangler is a bronze sculpture of a cowboy on horseback.
