Man critically injured in industrial accident

A 21-year-old man was critically injured in an industrial accident involving a forklift early Thursday morning in southwest Wichita, authorities said.

The man was struck by the forklift at 5:43 a.m. at R&L Carriers, 3402 W. Harry, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. His injuries were so severe he stopped breathing on the scene near Harry and Southwest Boulevard, but first responders were able to resuscitate him for a short time before rushing him to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis.

Wichita police are investigating what caused the accident.
