Excel Industries announced it will reopen its Hesston factory on Wednesday, with full workdays beginning Thursday and Friday.
The company uses a hotline recording as its main form of communication with Excel employees. At midday Tuesday, the recording stated the plans for reopening the plant. Company executives have instructed Excel employees to call the hotline each day for updates.
The message comes after the plant has been closed for almost a week-and-a-half following a fatal mass shooting there on Feb. 25.
This is what the recording stated: “Excel Industries will be reopening its doors to employees and their families on Wednesday, March 9. Employees are welcome to bring their clergy as well. ... This will be a come-and-go event, so feel free to spend as much time as needed on the campus. We will be returning to work Thursday, March 10, and Friday, March 11, with regularly scheduled 10-hour days.
