The fire was reported at 1:36 a.m. in the 5900 block of East Castle, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. That’s northeast of Harry and Woodlawn.
Firefighters needed nearly half an hour to extinguish the blaze, which started on the exterior of the attached garage. An investigation revealed the fire was caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette and caused an estimated $20,000 in damage, Wichita fire Lt. Kelly Zane said.
