A man was killed and a woman injured in a collision southeast of Wichita early Monday morning, authorities said.

The collision was reported at 4:41 a.m. in the 14900 block of East 47th Street South, Sedgwick County sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning said. That’s about a half-mile west of the Butler County line in southeast Sedgwick County.

Evidence at the scene indicates a green Buick Century driving east drifted across the center line and collided with a gray Toyota Tacoma pickup, Dehning said.

Both drivers were ejected from their vehicles, he said. The driver of the Buick, 47-year-old Charles Blackburn of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Cecelia Smith of Douglass, was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis with injuries not considered critical.

“We don’t have any indication at this time why” the sedan drifted left of center, Dehning said.
