Police: Man taken into custody after breaking into apartment, swinging machete

Wichita police took a 24-year-old man into custody Sunday morning after he allegedly broke into an apartment swinging a machete and yelling profanities.

The incident happened at 4 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of South Hydraulic, south of Pawnee, according to Sgt. Brian Sigman, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

When Wichita officers arrived, they found five people ranging in age from 1 to 24. The five told police that a man broke into their apartment and awoke them.

Police found the suspect in the area, Sigman said, and arrested him on suspicion of several counts of aggravated assault.
