Free legal clinic set up to represent low-income Kansans in IRS disputes

Low-income Kansans who are in disputes with the IRS can receive free assistance from Kansas Legal Services.

The nonprofit law firm recently received a grant from the IRS to operate its Low Income Taxpayer Advocacy Clinic for a second year.

Kansas Legal Services represents people in IRS audits, appeals, collection matters and federal tax litigation. It helps taxpayers respond to IRS notices and helps correct account problems.

It does not prepare taxes.

People may apply for assistance by calling 800-723-6953 or by completing an application online at www.kansaslegalservices.org.
