Train derails in southwest Wichita
A K&O train derailed in southwest Wichita early Thursday morning, though no injuries were reported and no streets were blocked by rail cars.
Railroad officials reported the derailment at 4:28 a.m. at Pawnee and West Street, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatch supervisor said. The cars that derailed were empty.
K-42 was closed between Pawnee and Harry for a short time as a precaution but later reopened, the supervisor said.
