Uber to give away free cupcakes from noon to 2 p.m. Friday

Uber will deliver a box of four free gourmet cupcakes to the first 37 users who request it Friday from noon to 2 p.m. in Wichita.

Brown Box Bakery, a local creme-filled cupcake truck, will donate the cupcakes.

To receive a box of four free cupcakes: open the Uber app on your smart phone between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m on Friday.; request the “CUPCAKES” option in the app; then wait for the Uber driver to arrive at your location with cupcakes.

Anna Hastings, owner of Brown Box Bakery, said she’s prepared 148 cupcakes – or 37 boxes of four – for the event.

She said each box will contain an assortment. Some flavors include strawberry margarita, red velvet, chocoholic, Reese’s, River City Stout and apple pie.

“I thought it would be a fun way to get my name out there,” she said. “I’m a food truck, so not everyone knows who we are.”
