Newest lottery millionaire lives in Bel Aire ... Kansas
Bel Aire has a new millionaire.
Not the Bel Aire next door to Beverly Hills, Calif., but the Bel Aire just north of Wichita.
The Kansas Lottery announced Wednesday that a woman who lives in Bel Aire had claimed a $1 million grand prize from the lottery’s Holiday Millionaire Raffle.
The drawing was held Dec. 31.
The lucky lady, whoever she is, asked that her identity be kept anonymous, which lottery winners can do.
“The excited winner and her family told Lottery officials they had intended to claim the prize earlier this month, but wintery weather and problems with a car tire kept them from making the trip to Topeka until today,” Lottery spokeswoman Sally Lunsford said in a news release.
“While waiting to claim the $1 million ticket, the winner said she kept it in a secret place not even her family knew.”
The woman bought only one ticket in the drawing, Lunsford said.
