A Garden City man claimed a $1 million cash prize Powerball ticket Wednesday morning.

The man chose to remain anonymous, along with a Manhattan woman who claimed a $50,000 cash prize from the Jan. 13 Powerball drawing, according to a release issued Wednesday by the Kansas Lottery.

The Garden City man’s ticket matched the first five numbers in the Powerball drawing but not the Powerball. He picked the numbers after purchasing $10 worth of tickets at the Food Mart 3 at 1505 Buffalo Jones Ave. in Garden City.

The Manhattan woman matched four of the first five Powerball numbers and the Powerball on $10 worth of Quick Pick tickets. She purchased the winning ticket at Short Stop 12, 2010 Tuttle Creek Blvd. in Manhattan.

The Powerball jackpot reached $1.6 billion last week before three tickets in other states turned up winners.
