West Warren theater to host ‘sensory sensitive’ screening of ‘Star Wars’ Saturday
Children with autism, sensory disorders or other special needs are invited to “sensory sensitive” screenings of two movies in Wichita on Saturday.
The Warren Theatre in west Wichita, 9150 W. 21st St., will show “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Or, families can opt to see “Norm of the North,” an animated film that tells the story of a polar bear named Norm and his three lemming friends, who wind up in New York City.
Normal ticket prices apply.
During the sensory sensitive screenings, which began in 2012, theater officials turn the house lights up a little more than usual and turn the sound down. Movies are shown in auditoriums with sloped aisles rather than stairs, so audience members can move around, talk, dance or sing.
