Police: Dispute at gas pumps leads to shooting (+video)
An argument between two men refilling their vehicles at a set of gas pumps escalated until one shot the other shortly after noon on Wednesday, police said.
The shooting occurred at the Petro America convenience store at the corner of 26th and Amidon in north Wichita, Sgt. Bill Stevens said. The two men had parked their vehicles next to each other, facing south, in the island closest to the business, according to police.
It’s not clear what the two men were arguing about at the time of the shooting, Stevens said. A man in his 20s pulled out a gun during the argument and shot the 34-year-old victim once before leaving in a silver Grand Am.
The victim was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, Stevens said, where he is in serious condition. He is expected to survive.
Beat officers have identified the shooting suspect and are looking for him, according to police. Stevens said it’s not clear yet if the two men knew each other.
