Sister Tarcisia Roths to receive Sweet Humanitarian of the Year Award
The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita announced in a news release Wednesday that Sister Tarcisia Roths has been named the 2016 recipient of the Sweet Humanitarian of the Year Award.
The award was created in 2005 by physician Donna Sweet to honor those who have contributed to the Wichita community through leadership and philanthropy. Sweet is a Wichita doctor and world-renowned HIV/AIDS expert.
According to the release, Sister Tarcisia is being recognized for her devotion to the community and education of others. She taught at what is now Newman University and served as its president from 1991 to 2000.
The award will be presented Feb. 5 at “An Evening of Note.” The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be hosted at Abode Venue, 1330 E. Douglas.
Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling 316-293-3595. Proceeds will benefit HIV and AIDS patients through the Sweet Emergency Fund.
