Non-emergency phone number open for New Year’s Eve

Sedgwick County will open its non-emergency phone line, 316-290-1011, for New Year’s Eve.

The non-emergency line is an alternative to 911 that the county opens during historically high call times. It’s used to clear the 911 lines from nuisance calls that could block emergency calls from reaching dispatch.

Non-emergencies include situations that don’t pose a threat to life or property, such as party complaints or noise complaints.

The line will remain open from 6 p.m. Dec. 31 to 3 a.m. Jan. 1. Calls to the non-emergency line outside those hours will be routed to 911, but with limited location information.
