Police investigate rollover accident in southeast Wichita

Wichita police are investigating a rollover accident at 31st Street South and Hiram in southeast Wichita.

The accident happened shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, according to Sgt. Roger Runft, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. A passer-by saw the aftermath of the accident and saw a man grab some items form the vehicle and run from the area.

According to Runft, when police contacted the owners of the vehicle, they were at home and unaware their vehicle had been taken.

Police found a shotgun in the wrecked vehicle.

At the accident scene, police discovered the vehicle had struck a utility pole, creating a power outage briefly in the area.
