Three young children found walking early Monday morning near 13th, Waco
Three young children were placed in protective custody early Monday morning after they were spotted walking together on Waco, police said.
A passerby called 911 shortly after 3:30 a.m. after seeing the children walking in the 1100 block of North Waco, Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said. Officers responding to the report found two girls, ages 6 and 4, and a 1-year-old boy walking together.
The older girl told the officers she was trying to take her siblings to their grandmother’s house because their mother was not home, Espinoza said. The officers took the children to the Wichita Children’s Home.
“The children were not injured in any way,” Espinoza said.
Further investigation revealed the children live in the 400 block of West 11th, he said. The incident remains under investigation.
