Harvey County deputies confront nude man taking pictures of wheat field
Even though the next full moon is not predicted until Dec. 25, there was a full moon on SE 36th Street in Harvey County on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Around 1 p.m., someone reported a “very white male” in his 20s with “nothing on but a hat and a smile” taking pictures of a wheat field near the Newton Outlet Mall, the department said in a Facebook post.
By 5 p.m., officers had located the man, who by that time was wearing boxers, said Sheriff T. Walton. The man was with a friend of similar age, according to the post. The two were from Oregon.
Undersheriff Todd Hanchett “explained to them that Kansas is not as liberal as Oregon and suggested they continue their travels back to their home state,” Walton said in a Facebook post.
It is technically not illegal to be publicly naked provided you are not trying to arouse yourself or others, Walton said in the post.
