GraceMed, a nonprofit health organization, is seeking donations for its health clinic project on the South YMCA campus, 3405 S. Meridian.

People who want to make donations to the project will receive half of the amount back in the form of a state tax credit. For example, if someone donates $100, that person would receive a $50 tax credit.

But to receive a tax credit, the donations must be made before Dec. 31.

GraceMed is affiliated with the Methodist Church and serves people who don’t have insurance or who have low incomes with a sliding fee scale.

The organization needs to raise $700,000 to reach the total $6 million cost of the project before it can break ground.

GraceMed estimates the clinic could serve 17,474 new patients with a total of 49,000 visits annually.

The YMCA clinic is part of a larger $12 million project GraceMed started three years ago in an effort to expand health care access to Wichita’s underserved south-side population.

To donate, or for more information about the tax credits, contact Dave Sanford at 316-866-2001 or dsanford@gracemed.org, or Lesa Dreifort at 316-866-2069 or ldreifort@gracemed.org.
