UPDATE: 21st and Oliver to be closed until early next week
The intersection of 21st and Oliver will remain closed at least through the weekend after a contractor working at the location punctured a water main with a boring machine Wednesday, city officials said.
“The main has since been repaired,” deputy public works director Joe Pajor said Thursday.
A “repair patch” for the hole drilled to reach the punctured main will be poured on Friday, he said.
“Our patch will be ready for traffic on Monday,” Pajor said, but when the intersection reopens to traffic will depend on how soon the contractor completes its project.
Drivers and pedestrians are advised to take alternate routes until the main break is fixed. No city water customers are affected by the main break, Pajor said, because the city was able to route water elsewhere in the system to avoid that main.
