A man was critically injured Friday afternoon when a skid-steer loader tipped over on him at an east Wichita construction site, according to a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher.

The call came in around 2:30 p.m. at the old Piccadilly Square, near the northwest corner of Central and Rock Road.

When emergency crews arrived, the man had been freed from under the construction equipment, the dispatcher said. He was taken in critical condition to Wesley Medical Center.

Construction crews had closed off the site and yellow caution tape was strung from the entrances of the building.

Piccadilly Market & Grill announced in October that it would be leaving the space, and a farmers market is planning to open in the center.
