Power outage hits Andover, eastern Sedgwick County

Nearly 1,000 Westar Energy customers are without electricity Wednesday morning in eastern Sedgwick County and western Butler County, including parts of Andover.

The outage was first reported at 3:35 a.m., according to Westar, and is expected to be restored by about 8 a.m.

The outage stretches from just east of 143rd Street East in Sedgwick County to just east of Prairie Creek Road in Butler County east of Andover. The outage extends from Douglas on the south to 17th — or Allison Street in Andover — on the north.

What caused the outage hasn’t been released by Westar officials.
