Police need help finding Olds 98 involved in November collision

Police are requesting public assistance in finding an Olds 98 that was involved in a collision that seriously injured a woman last month.

The Olds was traveling south on Pinecrest on Nov. 24 when it failed to yield to traffic on 13th and slammed into a Toyota Prius coming east at about 5:40 p.m., Lt. James Espinoza said. The impact spun the Prius into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a Chevy Silverado.

The woman driving the Prius suffered severe head injuries in the collision and remains hospitalized, Espinoza said. The driver of the Olds 98 did not stop at the scene.

The car being sought is a 1996 Olds with a color scheme of light blue over gray, Espinoza said. It was last seen driving in the 1400 block of Old Manor. The car should have “extensive front-end damage,” Espinoza said.

Investigators would like anyone with information about the vehicle’s location to call the accident follow-up unit at 316-268-4131 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111. Tips can also be submitted at www.WichitaCrimeStoppers.com or by texting TIP217, then the message, to CRIMES (274637).
