A man was stabbed in downtown Wichita on Monday night, police said.
The stabbing was reported shortly before 6:15 p.m. at Central and Emporia, Lt. John Espinoza said. The 28-year-old victim said he was approached by a stranger in a blue jacket who demanded money from him.
When he refused, Espinoza said, the stranger stabbed him once in the stomach. The victim was taken in serious condition to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis.
Officers found a man matching the description given by the victim walking in the same area, Espinoza said. He also had a knife in his pocket. But the victim could not positively identify him.
