El Dorado woman killed in two-vehicle accident in Marion County
A 19-year-old El Dorado woman was killed early Sunday in a two-vehicle accident about five miles south of Herington.
Sally Rowell was headed south on U.S. 56 when her 2009 Mitsubishi Galant went left of center and collided in the northbound lane with a semitrailer truck, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 8:45 a.m.
Rowell’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch to the west of the highway; the semi stopped on the highway’s east shoulder.
Rowell was killed. The 45-year-old driver of the semi, Tommy Tibbets of El Dorado, was taken to the Herrington Municipal Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
