House fire near 21st and Woodlawn was arson, investigators say
A house fire in northeast Wichita early Sunday morning was intentionally set, investigators said Monday.
The fire was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of North Homestead, Wichita fire investigators said. That’s near 21st and Woodlawn.
The fire caused $200,000 in damage to the house, Investigator Mark Reibenspies said. A 41-year-old man was taken to the burn unit at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis with burns to his arms and legs.
He was in serious condition on Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Investigators have a suspect identified, but no arrests have been made.
