Woman, 51, injured in shooting near Lincoln and Washington
A 51-year-old woman was critically injured in a shooting south of downtown Wichita on Sunday.
Police were called to the 1100 block of South Pattie at 12:15 p.m. Sunday for an injury shooting, according to Sgt. Brian Sigman, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. That is east of Washington and north of Lincoln.
When police arrived, they found the woman with a gunshot wound to her chest.
Witnesses told police shortly before the shooting, they saw a black pickup truck pull up in front of a house and two suspects get out and go inside the house. There was an argument and as the suspects left the house, one fired a shot, Sigman said.
The bullet struck the woman, who was taken to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis where she was admitted for surgery. Police said she was in critical condition.
It is possible the suspects were looking for the woman’s son who is cooperating with police, Sigman said.
