Two dead in rollover crash near Hugoton

Two men died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Stevens County.

Andres Sandval, 37, of Liberal was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander south on County Road 20, near Hugoton, when the minivan left the road and went into the ditch, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report. Sandval overcorrected and returned to the roadway, but the van started to skid and veered into the ditch again.

The minivan rolled, landing on its top, the report said.

Sandval and one of his four passengers, 26-year-old Juan Sebastian-Diago of Liberal, died, the report said.

Three other men, ages 23, 26 and 41, were taken to Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton to be treated for injuries, the report said. They also are Liberal residents.
