Second Wichita community meeting on policing set for Dec. 10
Wichita residents will get another chance next week to sound off about relations between law enforcement and the community, focusing on shootings by police.
The second community meeting – the first was titled “No Ferguson Here” – will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Convention Hall at Century II in downtown Wichita.
In response to concerns from the community, some raised at the first meeting, the police department will outfit all patrol officers with body cameras by the end of next year.
“We are interested in furthering the dialogue with our community,” Interim Police Chief Nelson Mosley said in a news release. “We want to give and receive input on previous meetings and set the course for future dialogue.”
Wichita State University is helping organize the meeting.
