Sedgwick County Zoo tigers enjoying new enrichment toy (VIDEO)
The Amur tigers at the Sedgwick County Zoo are busying themselves with a new toy that’s like a giant Weeble Wobble.
Remember those toys from the ’70s? The toy’s catchphrase was “Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down!”
The zoo’s version is for enrichment, said zoo spokeswoman Melissa Graham.
“It kind of weebles, and it wobbles,” Graham said.
The toy keeps the tigers busy and “simulates what prey would do.”
The lions and jaguars first enjoyed the new toy. Now it’s the Amur tigers’ turn.
The toy is especially interesting to the tigers because it’s been scented by the lions and jaguars, Graham said.
The zoo has five Amur tigers. Talali and Ivan mated and gave birth to twins Tsar and Natasha last year. Talali’s sister, Zeya, is the third adult tiger.
Talali and Natasha share an area at the Slawson Family Tiger Trek. Ivan, Tsar and Zeya live in separate areas.
