Three injured, one seriously, in overnight crash in northeast Wichita

A 23-year-old man was seriously injured Sunday morning after his car crashed into a Mattress Firm store at 21st and Rock Road.

Wichita police Sgt. Brian Sigman said police were dispatched to the crash at 1:50 a.m.

“Apparently the driver lost control, left the roadway and struck the Mattress Firm building located there on that corner,” he said.

Two passengers in the car, a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

“The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with severely critical injuries,” Sigman said.

He said it’s not clear whether alcohol played a role in the accident.
