Motorcyclist, 66, killed in collision near Fredonia

A 66-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Saturday morning near Fredonia when he collided with an SUV that failed to yield as it turned, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

A Chevrolet Suburban driven by an 83-year-old Fredonia woman was eastbound on Kansas 39 when the driver attempted to turn left onto County Road 1700 in front of the motorcycle at 12:55 p.m., the highway patrol said. The motorcycle, which was westbound on K-39, then struck the SUV.

Roy Myers of Chanute was killed in the collision, the highway patrol said in the crash report.

The crash site is about eight miles northwest of Fredonia.
