Health department to offer free HIV testing on World AIDS Day
The Sedgwick County Health Department is offering free HIV testing at its main clinic Dec. 1 in observance of World AIDS Day.
Conventional venipuncture and rapid HIV testing will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2716 W. Central in Wichita. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome, according to health officials.
To schedule a test, call 316-660-7300.
Also on Dec. 1, the health department will provide free rapid testing for Wichita State University students, faculty and staff on the school’s main campus. Tests will be given from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Student Health Services in Alberg Hall.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people ages 13 to 64 be tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. High-risk groups should be tested more often.
