Parsons man killed in rollover crash in Neosho County

A 51-year-old Parsons man died Wednesday after he was ejected from a van during a rollover crash in Neosho County, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report.

James Merrill was driving a 1999 Nissan Quest south on Highway 59 about 1.5 miles north of Parsons when he swerved across the center line and drove onto the northbound gravel shoulder, the highway patrol said. Merrill then overcorrected, traveled back across both lanes of traffic, and drove into a ditch on the southbound side.

There, the van rolled several times and Merrill was ejected at about 2:30 p.m., according to the report. He died at the scene.
