Pete Meitzner to seek second term on Wichita City Council

Pete Meitzner said Friday that he plans to run for a second term on the Wichita City Council. Meitzner represents District II, which includes much of east Wichita.

Meitzner said he does not plan to run for mayor despite encouragement from supporters.

“Simply put, it’s just not the right time for me and my family,” he said in a written statement released Friday evening. He and his wife, Suzi, have two children.

City Council members serve four-year terms. The deadline to file for the spring election is noon on Jan. 27.
